Wisdom of the HeART: is an annual event which gathers the school community and the broader Jewish community to celebrate the school’s success.It is CJDS’s major fundraiser, netting over $100,000, and provides a significant portion of our operating budget each year.It is important to all of us that this event is successful, as it helps keep the school, particularly our outstanding related arts program, running in the black.
Honoree: Each year, we honor a community member who has significantly contributed to the cause of Jewish Education.Past honorees have included Miriam and Bernard Yenkin, Chuck and Joyce Shenk, the Wexner Foundation and Judy Vigder. This year’s honorees, Sam and Gigi Fried, will be recognized for their long-standing commitment to Jewish education and the Columbus Jewish community.
Volunteers: A major reason the event has been so successful in the past is that we rely heavily on volunteers and donations to make sure the largest possible percentage of contributions fall to the bottom line, rather than being spent on staging the event.It is also a fun event, a social evening where friends and community members can gather and celebrate together.
Save the date: (Sunday: January 31, 2010) While the event is still months away, we are beginning work now, and welcome the input and help of all of our families.In particular, we welcome the fresh perspective of our new families.We will be holding a kick-off meeting in the fall to discuss the event.We will talk in greater detail about our volunteer needs, and there will be opportunities to sign up for the various committees.
